Banning books

Dan Brown's prequel to The Da Vinci code - Angels and Demons is currently being produced into a movie starring Tom Hanks. The story is set in the Vatican. When the makers of the film sought permission to shoot two key scenes inside the churches of Santa Maria del Popolo and Santa Maria della Vittoria, they were denied permission and the Vatican has gone ahead and banned the film and the book. Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican's secretary of state, added: 'Boycotting this film is the least we can do. The book and the film are a pot pourri of nonsense, a phantasmagorical cocktail of inventions.'

If this is true, then they should ban all nonsensical books - The Bible being the first in the list followed by all other religious books.

We categorize most books that are filled with nonsense as Fiction, and they are interesting to read, since it reflects the author's imagination. The Bible is also an imaginative cumulative, edited work and should be treated as pure Fiction and an interesting read. Leading one's life based on a fiction such as The Bible (or any other religious book) would be the same as leading your life based on Superman comics. We call people of the latter faith Mad. What are we to call people of the former faith?
